About Phi Phi Island

The exotic Phi Phi islands are situated on Thailand’s Andaman coast, about 90 minutes ferry trip from either Phuket or Krabi. It consists of 6 small island that belong to a protected National Marine Park and from which only one is inhabited.

Phi Phi Island is a holiday paradise for young and old offering a large selection of places to stay, shops, restaurants and bars. But it is also very easy to find quiet and secluded beaches for those who want to get away from it all. Koh Phi Phi Don is the only inhabited island of the six.

Most of this island is made up out of palm covered hills and the absence of roads and traffic is something that makes Phi Phi a special place to be. Looking at the spectacular limestone cliffs, the blue sea and white sandy beaches it isn’t hard to imagine why Hollywood filmmakers choose this island to film the movie version of Alex Garland’s novel “The Beach” starring Leonardo di Caprio.
